Singer, songwriter and producer Emily Saunders returns to The Studio with ‘The Voice Mix’: an evening of carefully curated music that will enthral and inspire audiences and fellow musicians alike.

Emily’s heady mix of Latin-infused grooves with edges of drum & bass and infectious melodies evokes sunshine and an irresistible urge to dance. Her astonishing vocal prowess captivates audiences wherever she performs and has propelled her to international recognition.

Her music has reached the iTunes & Amazon top 10 charts in the UK, USA, Germany, Indonesia and France and is broadcast widely on BBC Radio plus internationally in USA, Germany, Japan, Australia, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Abu Dhabi, and México.

This evening, Emily and her band will premiere songs from ‘Broken’ (the eagerly anticipated follow up to the critically acclaimed ‘Outsiders Inside’, one of The Daily Telegraph’s best of 2015) for release later this year.

“Musicality, poise and ingenuity – Saunders is the real deal” ★★★★ The Guardian

“Absolutely brilliant” Jamie Cullum BBC Radio 2

“Next big thing” ★★★★ Evening Standard

Emily’s special guests for this evening will be outstanding spoken word artist and composer Marcus Joseph and blues singer Melissa James.

Marcus Joseph
Marcus brings a warm fusion of Jazz, reggae, hip-hop and spoken word to the mix. He was classically trained on the clarinet from the age of seven. After a brief stint in a hip-hop group as a DJ and MC he received airplay on BBC1 Xtra. When he took part in a jazz workshop in London, Marcus was inspired to pick up the saxophone full time and went on to study in Leeds, London and New Orleans.

“The energy, versatility and raw talent of Marcus Joseph’s performance is a deeply inspiring and mesmeric experience.. you should book your ticket immediately” John Berkavitch

“Marcus Joseph, saxophonist turned spoken word artist, is a man who transcends musical boundaries and genres to produce inspiring, optimistic and life-affirming songs” Samuel Chambers (Demon Online)

Melissa James
Melissa James (“Best current British blues singer I know.” BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson) is much more than a blues singer. She is a singer with incredible passion for her cause which, she sees, is to use her voice and her music to form connections with others. Joined on stage by guitarist, Tom Gamble, her music blends folk, gospel, jazz – and life tales – but never without a large helping of the soul which stretches deep beyond her years.

“James takes all of her musical loves – jazz, blues, soul, folk – and wraps them up into songs that achieve an astonishing array of moods and emotions.” – Jazzwise
“Melissa’s vocals are sensitive, soulful and emotional…” – Maverick
